Canon LARP organizes LARP’s that lets participants experience times and places where history was written. We focus on realistic, historically grounded stories inspired by real events. Our LARPs feature prewritten characters and explore profound themes such as war and hatred, as well as resilience, community, and hope.
Each character comes with a rich backstory, pre-established relationships, and personal conflicts that unfold alongside the turbulent events of their time. Based in the Netherlands, Canon LARP is run by volunteers with a passion for LARP, history and the LARP community.

Canon LARP has been founded to provide a continuous recognizable entity for the LARPS made by the same group of people. Everyone involved is a volunteer.

”For God and Country’ is a LARP about the Dutch war of independence. Around the year 1570, the rebellious Dutch almost found themselves in the brink of open war with Spain, and Spanish-loyal countrymen. Important nobility, their servants and city regents meet each other to discuss the future. They take a group of Spanish-loyal countrymen hostage, who will be present in this all deciding meeting about the country’s future. ‘For God and country’ covers themes of religious fanaticism, the cost of war, and the power of propaganda. All characters also have personal storylines such as romances, vendetta’s or hopes to raise a family. The LARP has no written ending; the victors will truly write (alt-)history.

1672 tells the story of elites fighting over control of the country. The LARP is played in two acts: in Act 1, the republicans are powerful, and on the bring of abolishing monarchy. In Act two, the ‘disaster year’ strikes, and the monarchists take power. The story will end in the murder and cannibalization of the de Witt brothers. The LARP explores how this happened, and how it was to live through that time. Characters do not change the future, but they do influence their role in the events. Besides the political storylines, all characters have personal storylines based on their loved ones, ambitions and personal rivalries.
