The Polder

In 1934, the Wieringermeer Polder was reclaimed from the sea and settled by carefully selected Dutch families. They formed a balanced community of Protestants, Catholics, and socialists who all shared a strong sense of civics. That same year, a Jewish labour village was established to train German-Jewish refugees from Germany for agricultural life and future resettlement.

The War

In May 1940, the Netherlands was invaded by Nazi Germany and quickly surrendered. The Jewish labour village was dismantled, and many of its inhabitants were deported. Some managed to go into hiding. Meanwhile, the Polder became a hub of resistance against the Nazi regime.

The meeting

This LARP tells the story of resistance groups meeting to discuss the future of the country. Everyone expects a final fight soon, and the country will fall into someone’s hands. Who will get the guns, funds, and who will be punished and how?

The Wieringermeer Polder villagers will pay a grave price for their suspected resistance work. The Tide of War will soon flood their peaceful community- forcing them to make impossible decisions.

The game is a prewritten LARP, which means that all players will receive a background with a personal history, relationships and ‘what your role is in this LARP’.

Characters are based on real people, but are not real people. They are eighter national resistance hero’s, or resistance hero’s who play a role in the local Polder.

The game does not have time skips. The game does work with pregame resistance scenes, where players get to make choices that affect other players during the rest of the LARP.
